If there’s one thing the business world agrees on, it’s that restaurants are among the most challenging of ventures. High startup and overhead costs, as well as the logistics involved in acquiring and retaining staff, and creating a menu and a marketing plan can be daunting. As many as 30% of new restaurants close their doors within a year. Tessa and Robert Adams have beat the odds — and not just once. When their rental property on Avenue D stood vacant, they opened a restaurant there, along with two food trucks. In 2018, they moved to 412 N. U.S. Hwy. 1, as Phatz Chick N Shack. Their Vero restaurant opened in 2017.

Terra Lago model homes grand opening in Indiantown

The paint is dry, and the welcome mats are placed outside the new model homes at Terra Lago, A Garcia Community, in the heart of Indiantown. A grand opening celebration is set for 11 a.m. on Fri., July 11, 2025, at the intersection of Garcia Drive and SW American. These model homes are part of the first phase of the Terra Lago development which will include single-family homes in Martin County starting in the $300s. Construction of townhomes is well underway with apartments expected later in the process.

Classy Kuts Salon hosts pet supply drive for seniors

In celebration of National Pet Month, Senior Resource Association (SRA) partnered with Danica David of Classy Kuts Dog Salon to host a Pet Meals on Wheels Food and Supply Drive, collecting essential items to support the cherished pets of local seniors.

Terry Fesler recognized for collaborative leadership

Terry Fesler, VP of business development and community relations for Treasure Coast Hospice, a Treasure Health Service, and St. Francis Hospice, was honored with the Catalyst Award by the Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association (FHPCA). The award was presented to Fesler at the FHPCA’s Annual Awards of Excellence Forum held in May in Orlando, Florida.

City of Fort Pierce Commission seeks applications for Youth Advisory Committee

The Fort Pierce City Commission is inviting passionate and motivated students to apply for membership on the Fort Pierce Youth Council (YOCO), an advisory committee dedicated to addressing youth-related issues and providing a platform for young voices in local government.
