Treasure Coast Agri-Science Showcase & Fall Fest – POSTPONED

Out of an abundance of care and respect for the local community, the UF/IFAS Treasure Coast Agri-Science Showcase & Fall Fest, with Mike’s Organic Topsoil, is postponed to a date to be determined. “Our community continues to suffer unprecedented loss by multiple tornadoes that beset us in advance of Hurricane Milton,” said Mark Kistler, director of the UF/IFAS Indian River Research and Education Center. “Along with my colleague Grantly Ricketts, director of the UF/IFAS Extension, St. Lucie County, we have postponed our shared event originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 19, to a date to be determined after we may heal along with our community.”

Fort Pierce launches Residential Rehabilitation Program

The City of Fort Pierce’s Grants Administration Division announced the opening of its Residential Rehabilitation Program, aimed at providing assistance to eligible homeowners within the city. A total of $1,000,000 has been allocated to this initiative, consisting of $717,020 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $282,980 from the State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Residential Rehabilitation funds for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.

St. Francis Reflections and Treasure Health finalize partnership

Space Coast-based St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care and Treasure Coast-based Treasure Health announced that the two organizations have finalized their partnership agreement. Together, the two non-profit hospice and palliative care providers serve more than 7,000 patients annually and employ more than 600 clinical and administrative staff in Brevard, Martin, St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties.

United Way of St. Lucie & Okeechobee mobilizes community support after Hurricane Milton

In the wake of Hurricane Milton and the devastating tornadoes which touched down throughout the Treasure Coast, United Way of St, Lucie and Okeechobee has been collaborating with key partners such as the Red Cross, Mustard Seed Kitchen, and Treasure Coast Food Bank to mobilize resources and assist with hurricane relief efforts. Just yesterday, we facilitated a connection between Catholic Charities and Mustard Seed Ministries, enabling the distribution of water, MREs, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products to victims of the tornadoes that struck St. Lucie County.

Backus announces accepted and award-winning art for the Best of the Best annual juried exhibition

The A.E. Backus Museum & Gallery announced the accepted works of art and award winners for the 2024 Juried Art Exhibition The Best of the Best. A panel of three independent judges voted to accept 74 entries from the 301 record-breaking number of submissions. The original works of art were entered into four categories: Oil/Acrylics, Watercolor, Varied Techniques, and Three-Dimensional. A total of 20 awards were given to distinguished examples in each of the four entry categories. Following the Season Opening reception on Sat., Oct. 5, the exhibition is on display to the public now through Nov.15, 2024. The Museum is located at 500 N. Indian River Drive in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce.
