Economic center board adds directors

The Treasure Coast Center for Economic and Educational Development, a nonprofit established by the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County, has expanded its board of directors. Thom Epsky, Rita Evans and Kallee Jackson were elected to the TCCEED board in May.
Azlina Goldstein of GL Homes/Riverland will continue to chair the nonprofit. Brandon Nobile of Remnant Construction is vice chair, Trisha Hawthorne of Seacoast Bank is treasurer, and Nikita Lloyd of WebSuited is secretary.
Marissa Gleockler of the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County and Dr. Helen Wild, deputy superintendent of St. Lucie Public Schools, are ex-officio members.
Epsky is president and CEO of the United Way of St. Lucie and Okeechobee and serves on the Florida Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission. His experience includes public service, human resources, workforce development and nonprofit leadership.
Evans is a Port St. Lucie business owner, community advocate, former nonprofit president and supporter of veterans and their families throughout the Treasure Coast. She retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer after 21 years of service.
Jackson is a fashion designer and entrepreneur whose couture designs have been featured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour and other publications. Her collections have appeared on runways in New York, Paris, Dubai and Milan. She also leads the Kallee Jackson Threaded Legacy Foundation, which works to inspire and empower young people in fashion design and the creative arts.
“The opportunity to add these three accomplished business leaders to our board is truly meaningful for our growing organization,” said TCCEED Executive Director Anita Fischer. “I’m so thankful for everything Thom’s expertise in workforce readiness, mentorship and human-centered strategy; Rita’s servant leadership and commitment to community empowerment; and Kallee’s passion for creativity and education will add to what TCCEED is able to offer to our community.”
TCCEED is coordinating paid internships this summer for 61 high school juniors and seniors with 51 St. Lucie County companies. The program is being offered in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs and St. Lucie Public Schools.
After last year’s program, 14 students were offered continued employment after their internships.
The organization’s second annual Eighth Grade Experience, which gives eighth grade students an opportunity to explore career paths, is scheduled for Nov. 10.
The Treasure Coast Center for Economic and Educational Development is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization that connects businesses, educators and workforce leaders to build a stronger talent pipeline in St. Lucie County and the region.
