Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation Names Executive Director

The Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation has announced the addition of Elizabeth Farrar to the organization in the newly created position of Executive Director.

Farrar is the founder and owner of Farrar Creative and brings extensive experience in providing guidance to nonprofit organizations in the areas of fund development, strategic planning, communication, branding, website development and social media initiatives.

“Elizabeth will provide a tremendous level of creativity, energy and commitment to the work of the Foundation as we seek to grow and expand in the coming years,” said Erica Garwood, President of the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation.

Farrar will work with the Foundation’s co-founders Erica and John Garwood and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic plans for fundraising, expansion, and future community initiatives.

She will also be the principal contact and administrator of the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation Phoenix Scholarship Awards program, which provides scholarships to qualified individuals in the local recovery community who are working to resume or initiate their education.

“After losing their son, Mark, to substance use disorder, Erica and John Garwood established the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation to honor their son’s memory and help young adults in south Florida who are in recovery and committed to long-term sobriety”, stated Farrar,

“Since 2014, they have provided more than $250,000 in educational grants through their Phoenix Scholarship program and touched countless other lives through their support of the Mark Garwood Phoenix House and the Bridge House sober living residences.

“I am honored to join the Mark Garwood SHARE Foundation as its first executive director and look forward to helping the Garwoods grow their foundation to provide strength and hope to the recovery community in Florida,” she added.

Farrar is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and a past member of the Vanderbilt University Alumni Association Board of Directors.  She has been an active volunteer in numerous organizations, including the Junior League of Birmingham, Alabama, the American Cancer Society, the Florida Division of Emergency Management (COVID Vaccination Program) and the Hutchinson Island Preservation Initiative.
