Treasure Coast slowly hits 500 mark in coronavirus cases

The Treasure Coast today hit the 500 mark in coronavirus cases today while the documented spread of the virus in the region continues to slow down.
Today’s report from the Florida Department of Health showed St. Lucie with 236 cases, Martin with 174 and Indian River with 90 cases. The new numbers represent just an additional 26 cases for the weekend.

Payroll protection loans offered again

Applications were once again being accepted this morning after Congress passed and President Trump signed legislation approving an additional $320 billion for the Payroll Protection Program.
The loans are made through approved lenders and backed by the Small Business Administration.

$45,000 raised for laptops
|
|
The Education Foundation, St. Lucie has raised more than $45,000 to purchase laptops for children for distance learning. In addition, Florida Power & Light donated nearly 80 iPads to the Education Foundation.
Donations are still being accepted at the Education Foundation’s website at www.educationfoundationstlucie.org.

St. Lucie bash continuing virtually

The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce, which usually produces a monthly Business Bash after-hours networking event, is holding a virtual one this week hosted by Elite Electric and Air. The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce’s “In the the Know’’ virtual series this week features Sabeen Perwaiz, executive director of the Florida Nonprofit Alliance, who’ll talk about how to sustain nonprofits through economic hardship. Also featured on the call is Barbara Schlitt-Ford, executive director of the Environmental Learning Center.

The Mental Health Association in Indian River County is expanding its psychology services with the addition of new team member Philip Cromer, PhD. Dr. Cromer is a licensed psychologist who was involved in the management and operations of Counseling & Psychological Services at Florida Atlantic University from 2005-2011. He also was in private practice since 2016.
