City of Fort Pierce hosts 9.11 Remembrance Ceremony and memorial service

The City of Fort Pierce invites the community to attend its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Memorial Service to Honor CeeCee Ross Lyles who perished on Flight 93 when it crashed in a Pennsylvania field during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

FL vegetable growers rank highly in US sales and production

Florida vegetable growers rank second overall in the United States for total vegetable sales and third for corn production. Fresh corn contributes more than $1 million annually to the state’s economy. Vero Beach Film Festival holds premiere screening of film tackling childhood illiteracy

The Vero Beach Film Festival team is deeply committed to education and knowledge. Their new program, "Lights, Camera, Education," partners directly with high schools throughout Vero Beach to teach students the basics of the film industry and guide them through the process of creating their own artistic works in programs like NEXT UP! Student Films. The team aims to support and spotlight those who are working to empower the next generation, helping them succeed in any career path they choose.

Welcome home Honor Flight heroes, movie stars, and volunteers. Oh, my!

Saturday, September 21st, Southeast Florida Honor Flight volunteers will be escorting a full load of veterans on the free trip of a lifetime as the third Honor Flight of 2024 takes off for a daylong trip to Washington, D.C. At 8:20 p.m., 81 veterans, their volunteer guardians, and volunteer staff will be returning from a full day of being honored and celebrated in Washington, D.C., courtesy of Southeast Florida Honor Flight. Every veteran on the flight has stories to share and memories – some they haven’t thought of in decades, and some they have never shared with anyone. The September 21st flight includes three World War II veterans, ten Korean War Veterans, four veterans who served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and 64 Vietnam veterans. The youngest veteran is 68, and the oldest is 100 years old.
