Causeway Cove Marina works hard at having fun

Heading east over South Bridge, you could miss one exciting place if you are not careful. It might be called Fort Pierce’s “best kept secret,” but Causeway Cove Marina manager Harold H. “Buzz” Smyth has dedicated himself to welcoming the community as well as its visitors. The marina’s 18 acres of uplands and 27 acres of submerged land offer all sorts of water-related activities on the Indian River Lagoon, as well the space for parking and vendors for festivals and fundraisers.

Dyer Difference Award celebrates art and Spartans

Elementary school students in Indian River County are not only encouraged to be creative and utilize their artistic ability; they’re applauded for it thanks to the Indian River County Tax Collector’s Kids Tag Art program. Creative fifth graders are selected each year and are celebrated with a special ceremony featuring awards, certificates, and every child’s favorite – cake! This year, 43 students in Indian River County were honored for their wildly imaginative and artistic ideas for a Florida license plate, and over $9,000 was awarded to the Elementary Schools of Indian River County Arts Program. Cheering on the students and celebrating the program and the creativity of the children was the Dyer Difference Award in Indian River County.

Targeted funding opportunity: Keeping kids off drugs, alcohol, and other risky behaviors

The Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County is releasing a Targeted Funding Application in the priority category of Keeping Kids Off Drugs, Alcohol and Other Risky Behaviors. The amount of funding to be awarded is up to $95,000. The award will begin on October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, with the option to be renewed through the annual funding application process. Applications are due by August 7, 2024 at 11:59pm.

Humane Society of St. Lucie County adopts 136 dogs & cats in one weekend 

The Humane Society of St. Lucie County joined forces with Petco Love—formerly known as the Petco Foundation, a national non-profit working to lead and inspire change for animals—on a shared mission to find homes for dogs and cats. The event took place on June 28th, 29th, and 30th, resulting in the adoption of 61 dogs and 75 cats at our regional event hosted here in St. Lucie County.
