A family legacy of protection at Florida Shutters
For more than 45 years, Florida Shutters Inc. has remained a cornerstone of hurricane protection in Vero Beach, combining time-tested craftsmanship with a forward-thinking approach to design and safety. Founded in 1979 by Tom Pease, the company continues to thrive as a second-generation, family-owned and operated business under the leadership of his son, Thomas L. Pease Jr., known as Tommy.
The Vero Beach Museum of Art has raised $110 million toward its $126 million capital campaign for a new museum building and campus transformation, the institution announced. The total means the museum has secured more than 87% of its fundraising goal for the project, known as Museum in the Garden, which broke ground Nov. 7, 2025. The campaign had previously reached $100 million at the time of the groundbreaking.
Jon Prince, PhD, superintendent of St. Lucie Public Schools, was honored with the prestigious Pete Hegener Leadership Award by the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County (EDC) at its 12th annual leadership dinner on April 30. The award is presented each year to a dedicated business leader who has made significant contributions to St. Lucie County’s economy and quality of life. The annual dinner and celebration, held at the Harbour Ridge Yacht & Country Club and attended by 200 business leaders, was sponsored by Bank of America.
The 2026 Martin County Business Awards, hosted by the Business Development Board of Martin County, will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa. This annual event brings together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community partners to recognize the companies and individuals who are driving innovation, job creation, and economic excellence across Martin County.
