The scarcity of parking spaces along the streets of downtown Fort Pierce indicate a strong economic outlook for local businesses. With new stores continuing to pop up, downtown remains a thriving center of commerce for the city. According to Main Street Fort Pierce Executive Director Doris Tillman, quite a few new businesses have ventured into the downtown area during the past year.

The Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County announced Julia Keenan as its new Director of Development. In this critical role, Keenan will be responsible for fostering donor relationships with individuals, corporations, and foundations, as well as overseeing all aspects of the organization’s fundraising and development efforts. Her responsibilities will include planned giving, development staffing, managing various campaigns and stewardship programs, and marketing.

ARC of the Treasure Coast unveils new T.I.P. Community Center

The ARC of the Treasure Coast has purchased and closed on a building in Port St. Lucie that will house its new T.I.P. Community Center. The property at 451 SW Ravenswood Lane was formerly the Vista Gardens Ballroom. The facility will be home to the ARC of the Treasure Coast’s Therapeutic Intervention Program (T.I.P.) which will benefit hundreds of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Fort Pierce Yacht Club Foundation hosts 3rd Annual Chart Your Course Career Expo

The Fort Pierce Yacht Club Foundation hosted the 3rd Annual Chart Your Course, a maritime and marine industry career expo at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club and Fort Pierce River Walk Center. In attendance were 103 students from St. Lucie Public Schools - 25 students and teachers from St. Lucie West Centennial High, Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, and Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies; 28 students and  teachers from Forest Grove Middle School; and twelve students from Fort Pierce Project Lift. The focus of this event is on career exploration, sharing industry insights, and providing students with what may be their first networking opportunity.
