Plentiful land for large-footprint distribution facilities is powering the growth
The central question facing St. Lucie County as it updates the Port of Fort Pierce master plan is how the port will handle future economic and social opportunities.
The 7.2 acres between Indian River Drive and Second Street in downtown Fort Pierce that formerly housed the H.D. King electric plant could be transformed into an $85 million development featuring a hotel, townhomes, condominiums, retail and office space.
While the City of Vero Beach is primarily built out, three highly visible properties are becoming available and the future of Vero Beach itself may depend on how they are developed.
