The Treasure Coast Builders Association (TCBA), in collaboration with the Marine Industries Association and the Treasure Coast Manufacturers Association (TCMA), is proud to announce the upcoming Skilled Trades Bootcamp, designed to engage high school students and introduce them to rewarding careers in the manufacturing industry. This immersive program will take place from July 24th to July 28th, 2023, at Project Lift in Palm City, Florida.

With a focus on empowering young individuals to explore the skilled trades, the Skilled Trades Bootcamp aims to provide hands-on training and networking opportunities that can set them on a path towards a successful career. Spread your wings at Belterra

Spread your wings at Belterra

Iconic butterfly reflects lifestyle in new GHO Homes community

GHO Homes, celebrating 40 years of providing a distinctive and diverse floor-plan collection that has consistently won awards for single-family home and custom-estate design, is proud to announce the opening of its newest luxury community in St. Lucie County — Belterra.

Conveniently located just 1 mile west of Interstate 95 on Becker Road in the highly desirable master-planned community of Tradition, Belterra is only minutes away from shopping, dining and entertainment options, as well as the renowned Cleveland Clinic.

Among the many features found in Belterra models, like the Willow Signature, are flat tile roofs,
paver driveways and walkways, and for a limited time, free standard pools and screen enclosures.

Southern Grove — the newest area of construction in Tradition — features new rental neighborhoods, new industry and medical, and you have opportunities to move in and allow the area to develop around you. Future parks, schools, shopping, entertainment and more will all be joining you in Southern Grove.

Live close to I-95 and enjoy stress-free commutes to Palm Beach County as well as access to all of the excitement of South Florida or the magic of Orlando-area attractions. And, within a short walking distance, you’ll soon be able to enjoy a planned park, amphitheater and many more entertainment options.

What will truly sell you on Belterra will be the lifestyle within the gates of this boutique community. Just 150 homes in the first phase and an additional 150 homes planned in the second phase will allow Belterra to be a neighborhood where you can truly know your neighbors — offering a life beyond lifestyle in the most sought-after location in all of St. Lucie County.

The large and functionally designed kitchen area, as seen in the Willow Signature model, features 42-inch cabinets, quartz or granite counter tops, and a full complement of stainless-steel appliances as standard.

GHO Homes is offering 10 distinctive single-story floor plans, ranging from 2,200 to 2,900 square feet of living space in two-, three- and four-bedroom configurations, with options for a fifth bedroom. Homes start in the mid-$600s. All plans feature a choice of elevations and for a limited time, FREE standard pools and screen enclosures to celebrate their grand opening.

The reason for GHO Homes’ success since 1983 is anchored in its desire to focus on customizations in creating homes and the commitment from their entire team to their core value.

Managed by the second generation of the Handler family, Bill Handler, president of GHO Homes, insists that GHO Homes is a family consisting of employees, subcontractors and homeowners.

In 2018, GHO Homes was acquired by Green Brick Partners. However, Handler continues to run the day-to-day operations locally as president.

“As a Green Brick Partners Team Builder, we are able to leverage Green Brick’s financial resources and national purchasing power and combine it with our local building expertise to create a truly unique operation.’’

A uniquely designed butterfly has become Belterra’s icon.
A uniquely designed butterfly has become Belterra’s icon.

Like Belterra’s iconic butterfly, designed as part of GHO Homes’ support of Port St. Lucie’s Art in Public Places initiative, you’ll want to spread your wings with the homebuilder’s exclusive Tailor Made program and over 3,000-square-foot design center in Vero Beach that allows you to customize their homes to your specific needs — essentially, “Taking our house and making it your home.’’

For an example, using interactive floor plans with different options, you and a GHO Homes designer can turn the workshop area of a 2.5-car garage into a convenient anytime workout room or transform a bedroom into a personal “she shed.’’

Among the many standard features found in all Belterra homes are flat tile roofs; paver driveways and front walks; professionally designed landscaping packages; built-in garage storage; and a 50-amp circuit for an electric vehicle.

Energy-efficient features include spray-foam insulation; impact glass in all windows, sliders and glass doors; a gas tankless water heater; and natural gas supply for water heater, cook top and clothes dryer.

The large and functionally designed kitchen area, a natural gathering spot for families, features 42-inch cabinets; quartz or granite counter tops; and a full complement of stainless-steel appliances.

You’ll appreciate the luxurious look of crown moldings, high ceilings, and tile flooring in all the living areas; 8-foot interior doors, coffered ceilings, covered entries and rear patios.

Also standard at Belterra are the health and social benefits of an active lifestyle. Residents will enjoy the community clubhouse under construction and ready this fall. You’ll find a fitness center; billiards room; gathering areas; wine lockers for get-togethers; a community pool gazebo; and pickleball, tennis and half-court basketball courts. And, for a more leisurely pace, there’s a dock along the large community lake for those evening sunset views.

If the Belterra lifestyle is what you’ve been desiring in your next home, visit the Belterra sales office today. Ask about inventory homes that will be ready, starting this summer.

With 4 decorated models, all the unique features included, and pricing from the mid-$600s — with a pool and screen enclosure, you need to see Belterra for yourself.

For more information on Belterra and GHO Homes, visit ghohomes.com. Belterra’s sales office is located at 13928 SW Belterra Drive, off Becker Road in Port St. Lucie. From I-95, exit west. The community entrance is just 1 mile ahead. The sales office is open 10-5 Monday through Sunday. Or call the Belterra sales team, Andi Smith or Jennifer Smith, at 772.257.1100.

Kings Logistics Center tops off

Kings Logistics Center tops off

Celebrating the installation of the roof and the near-completion of the Kings Logistics Center warehouse in Fort Pierce, the project’s general contractor Catamount Constructors hosted a “topping off” event on March 28.

“Roofing a 664,176-square-foot building is a substantial undertaking and well worth celebrating,” said construction superintendent Thomas Naumann. “A topping off party is an opportunity to thank our workers, contractors and community partners.”

Naumann estimates that the Class A cross-dock facility will be completed in early May, with construction of the interior to take place once an end user’s requirements are known. Space is offered for lease from 300,000 square feet up to the full facility.

“The Kings Logistics Center is an anchor for the new Kings Highway jobs corridor,” said Pete Tesch, president of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County. “Based on industry averages, we  anticipate that approximately 433 people will be employed here once a tenant or tenants are in place.”

The facility is located just off Exit 131 (Orange Avenue) on Interstate 95, with easy access to Florida’s Turnpike as well. St. Lucie County is located midway between Miami and Orlando, with a population of 20 million within a four-hour drive.

The center’s cross-dock design offers 40-foot clear height, 130 loading doors, and four drive-in doors with 284 trailer spots and 676 car parks on the 65-acre site.

Seefried Industrial Properties is the project’s developer.  Upon completion of the shell, Affinius Capital (formerly USAA® Real Estate) will take ownership of the facility. For leasing information, contact Lee Morris, lee.morris@colliers.com, or Michael Falk, michael.falk@colliers.com, of Colliers at  407.782.8212 and  561.662.2624, respectively.

Total Truck Parts breaks ground in PSL

Total Truck Parts breaks ground in PSL

Total Truck Parts executives Marc Karon, Tom Gibson, Leo Cordeiro and Dennis Imbody break ground for the company’s new 47,000-square-foot facility on Glades Cutoff Road in Port St. Lucie.

Officials from Total Truck Parts and local dignitaries broke ground in Port St. Lucie, Florida, for the company’s largest facility.

After an almost two-year-long search, the employee-owned company with six locations in central and South Florida selected a 6-acre site in Midway Business Park to build its third company-owned facility.  The 47,000-square-foot building will include a 5,000-square-foot showroom, 16 heavy truck and trailer repair bays, a large area for hydraulic and drive line repair, and extensive warehouse space for parts.

“This new building is necessary to address the significant growth on Florida’s Treasure Coast,” said Total Truck Parts Chairman and President Marc Karon. “It is also key to our multifaceted growth strategy of expanding our shop repair capability with repair bays and shop services, as well as maintaining a deep inventory of parts to better serve our diverse customer base.”

“Our team is most excited about the continued company investment in growth and all the new opportunities that will be available to us with a facility of this size and functionality,” said CEO Leo Cordeiro.  Completion of the new facility is anticipated in late 2023.

Founded in 2002, Total Truck Parks has grown to be the largest independently owned commercial truck parts and repair business in the southeastern United States. The company employs a total of 106, of which 14 currently work in the neighboring city of Fort Pierce. The new Port St. Lucie location will have the potential to more than double local employment to 30, with wages at 25% above St. Lucie County’s average wage. Capital investment for the facility is estimated at $6 million plus additional investment for equipment and interior buildout.

“Total Truck Parts chose a fantastic location for their new facility, within a drive of just two miles to Interstate 95, so their customers can be back on the road and back in business quickly,” said Port St. Lucie Council Member David Pickett. “We are also very happy to be able to keep the company’s existing 14 local employees at work within the county and look forward to all the new jobs that will be created at this new facility.”

“It’s always exciting to see a local company grow, and we are very glad to be able to accommodate that growth within St. Lucie County,” said Pete Tesch, president of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County. “Total Truck Parts has been a thriving local employer for decades and the company’s investment in a new state-of-the-art facility here, the largest one in their portfolio, is the most rewarding kind of economic development of all. Richard K. Davis Construction Corp. of Fort Pierce is the general contractor for the project.

About Total Truck Parts

Total Truck Parts is the leading supplier of parts and service for commercial vehicles in Florida and the largest independently owned commercial truck parts and repair business in southeast Florida. Founded in 2002, the award-winning company’s value proposition is based on offering quality parts equivalent to, or superior than, the original equipment parts, along with a broad range of repair services and a deep inventory of parts that give its customers the opportunity to achieve their goals with one supplier. Total Truck Parts has six locations in Florida. Its more than 100 employee-owners have been providing world-class customer service in the Florida market for many years, accruing extensive product knowledge to diagnose problems and provide solutions for today’s complicated vehicles. St. Lucie County community makes its mark on the Interstate Commerce Center

Dozens of dignitaries gathered along Interstate 95 in Fort Pierce on Feb. 15 to add their signatures to a cornerstone for the Interstate Commerce Center (ICC).

Currently under construction at 3800 Crossroads Parkway in the Crossroads Park of Commerce, the 207,458-square-foot Class-A industrial building has 1,300 feet of clear I-95 frontage and is located in St. Lucie County at the northernmost point where I-95 and Florida’s Turnpike intersect.

The facility is being developed on 12.7 acres by JBL Development and will be managed by JBL Asset Management. Itasca Construction Partners is the general contractor. Designed for mid-size users with space requirements from 20,000 to 200,000 square feet, the facility will be ready for occupancy this spring.

ICC is located within one mile of both Exit 129 on I-95 and Exit 152 on the turnpike.  The facility’s location provides for access to Orlando, Fort Myers and Miami within two hours.  When complete, the facility will have 32-foot interior clear heights, a 60-foot speed bay, 60 dock-high loading bays, and several at-grade ramps.  Separate parking areas and entrances for employees will prioritize safety and visitor experience with a total of 302 parking spaces on site.

“There is currently quite a bit of product being developed for large users, so we are very excited to be able to offer attractive Class-A facilities for mid-size users with I-95 frontage and excellent access to both the interstate and Florida’s Turnpike,” said Michael Rem with JBL Development. “These distinctive and desirable qualities are driving interest from efficiency-minded businesses seeking brand exposure and quick access to Florida’s most densely populated hubs.”

“JBL’s choice of Fort Pierce as the home for this excellent facility was a wise one,” said Fort Pierce Mayor Linda Hudson. “Not only is the Interstate Commerce Center located at the northernmost point where the turnpike and I-95 come together, there is easy access to the Treasure Coast International Airport, the Port of Fort Pierce, the Florida East Coast railroad, our safe Fort Pierce Inlet connecting the Indian River Lagoon to the Atlantic Ocean, and our pristine uncrowded beaches.”

“Since the inception of this project, JBL Asset Management has engaged with the St. Lucie County community to ensure the end users at the Interstate Commerce Center will not only have first-class space to lease in a great location but also have connections to the community to assist with employment and business services,” said Pete Tesch, president of the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County. “Our signatures on the building’s cornerstone are tokens of our ongoing commitment to assist the tenants -- future local employers -- who will be joining us here in the Sunrise City.”

“We are pleased to work with JBL and the Economic Development Council of St. Lucie County in taking this top-tier industrial project to market,” said Michael Falk, executive vice president at Colliers. “We anticipate high demand for the facility given its ability to provide for tenants as low as 20,000 square feet with brand new, quality space in Fort Pierce’s booming market with excellent visibility along I-95.”  Leasing inquiries can be directed to Falk at 561.478.6400.

Mattamy Homes named Master Developer of Newfield in Martin County

Mattamy Homes named Master Developer of Newfield in Martin County

Traditional Neighborhood Development will include 4,000+ homes, town center, and more than 2,300 acres of open space with trails, parks and a working farm

Mattamy Homes, the largest privately owned homebuilder in North America, has announced it will serve as master developer of Newfield, the innovative new town in Martin County conceived over the past five years by financial journalist Knight Kiplinger.

“This has been a labor of love – one that has brought me great joy,” Kiplinger said.  “I am convinced that Mattamy, with its great track record around America, including being selected to build the last section of the town of Celebration, an acclaimed model of TND development, is the right developer to bring Newfield to fruition.”

Located in western Palm City, FL between the Turnpike and I-95, the large expanse of land, previously known as Shadow Lake Groves, has been owned by the Kiplinger family for more than four decades.

“Newfield will introduce a new standard for TND and open-space preservation on the Treasure Coast,” said Dan Grosswald, Mattamy’s Southeast Florida Division President. “Newfield will be a multigenerational pedestrian-friendly community that will appeal to a wide variety of current and future Martin County residents. We are honored and privileged to have been selected to develop this amazing unique property and look forward to bringing the Kiplinger vision to life.”

Newfield will embody the characteristics of a TND (Traditional Neighborhood Development) with an array of villages comprising homes in various sizes, styles and prices—mixed in a natural way with civic spaces such as parks, community gardens and schools, along with small-scale retail and office space. To promote walkability and community connection, Newfield neighborhoods will include rear-access garages and driveways in alleys behind homes, enabling residents to greet neighbors from the front porch and watch children play safely in the front yards.

More than 70 percent of the total Newfield acreage – 2,300-plus acres – will remain open with a 70-acre working farm with livestock, a mix of wooded hiking, biking and equestrian trails, pasture, wetlands, lakes and the natural new Kiplinger Conservancy.

Knight Kiplinger worked closely with Martin County residents to obtain commission approval in 2020, including proposing a whole new zoning category for the project. Newfield’s phase 1 encompasses 139 acres of which the first village will serve as the town center and include approximately 1,250 residential units, along with retail, restaurants, small-scale offices, recreational amenities, ten miles of trails and the county’s first gopher tortoise preserve.

Groundbreaking is expected later this year with sales to begin in fall 2023. The first homes are slated for early 2024 delivery. Kiplinger and members of his original planning team will work closely with Mattamy Homes in an advisory capacity.
