VERO BEACH – Riverside Theatre has hired a Richard Crowell as its new production manager. Crowell has been designing scenery and lighting for the stage in various parts of the country for over 35 years, including designing for over 20 years with Florida Stage in West Palm Beach.

A four-time Carbonell Award winner for his scenic and lighting designs, Crowell is a Visiting Professor of Scene Design at Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton.

He is also a member of Florida Repertory Theatre’s “Ensemble of Theatre Artists” in Ft. Myers and a long-time designer for The Greenbrier Valley Theatre in Lewisburg, W.Va.

Crowell received his BFA degree from Memphis State University and his MFA from the stage design training program at Meadows School of the Arts, Southern Methodist University. Raised in Nashville and the second oldest of five siblings, Richard’s interest in theatre began in his teenage years at a community theatre in Shelby, Tenn., and continued to develop at the university.
