VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival, hailed as “The New Summer Sundance” by the Huffington Post, today proudly announced that Hollywood icon George Takei will be named the recipient of the VBWFF 2018 Life World Living Legend Award. The award will be presented to Takei on June 8th at 6:30 PM in the beautiful Riverside Theatre. There, Takei will be on stage and interviewed by Festival Chair and acclaimed Film Critic Jeffrey Lyons, illuminating all facets of Takei’s remarkable career.

“George Takei has had a sensational career in entertainment,” said Jerusha Stewart, Founder and Executive Director of the Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival. “To be able to have him here in person, enlightening this community on his remarkable journey is something we are extremely proud of.”

Best known for his role as Sulu in the fan crazed “Star Trek” television series and his equal rights activism, Takei’s IMDB boast an astounding and lengthy 215 acting credits dating back to 1955.

Takei follows the great Burt Reynolds and legendary Gloria Estefan as 2017 and 2016 Life Worth Living Awards recipients, respectively.

Following the live interview and rounding out an amazing night, the VBWFF will announce the festival’s jury winning films and debut for Vero Beach the hit George Takei biopic, “To Be Takei.”
