VERO BEACH – Mr. George Blythe will bring the fascinating story of Jonathan Dickinson’s trials and tribulations of 1696 to life. A partial list of Jonathan Dickinson’s story includes his shipwreck in South Florida, being captured by the Ais Indians, his journey up the Florida coast to St. Augustine, and his open boat journey to Charlestown, South Carolina where he took a ship to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During this time, Jonathan Dickinson kept a precise journal of his trip. This is one of the earliest and best accounts of the early history of Florida. This program will be a great story for all ages.

The event will take place at the McLarty Treasure Museum, located two miles south of the Sebastian Inlet bridge on the east side of State Road A1A. The event is free.
