SBDC, Rubio to host virtual conference to help owners navigate pandemic challenges

 Florida’s small businesses are invited to register for the Virtual Small Business Resiliency Conference: Sustain the Pivot, a no-cost event hosted by the Florida Small Business Development Center [SBDC] Network and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio. The event will take place May 18-19.
This multiday virtual conference will equip Florida’s small businesses with the strategies and resources needed to navigate the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and connect them with resource providers who can aid in their long-term recovery.

IRSC Announces New Leadership Appointments
|

FORT PIERCE — Indian River State College has made key leadership appointments to advance the areas of technology, finance, student success, and academic and workforce development.
Joining the College are Timothy Marshall, who will serve as IRSC’s vice president of Institutional Technology/Chief Information Officer, and Marvin Pyles, who will serve as IRSC’s next vice president of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer.
Additionally, in late February, Elizabeth “Beth” Gaskin was named vice president for Student Success, and academic and workforce programs were unified under the direction of Heather Belmont, Provost/Vice president of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer.
Over the last several months, IRSC President Dr. Timothy Moore has made several changes to his internal Cabinet, including hiring Apple veteran Michael Hageloh as executive vice president of Strategic Initiatives.
“We’re in a hyper-competitive industry, and I know that we can do better in making IRSC every student’s first choice,” states Dr. Timothy Moore, IRSC president. “The team of experienced, innovative leaders that I am assembling have the skills and capabilities to move this College forward while retaining all of the qualities that make Indian River State College special. We’re going to move with velocity and purpose.”

Youth Guidance welcomes Richard Bradley to board of directors

 VERO BEACH — Youth Guidance is pleased to announce that Richard Bradley, CPA has joined its Board of Directors. Bradley has been in private practice for over 30 years and has served on numerous boards. Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy is a non-profit organization that provides one-on-one and group mentoring programs to children ages 5-18 from low-income families in Indian River County.
“A wonderful advocate, Richard has been a donor for the past three years after learning of Youth Guidance through our King of the Hill Tennis Tournament fundraiser, said Phil Barnes, Executive Director of Youth Guidance. “He brings with him experience and knowledge that will assist us as we continue to grow as an organization.”
Bradley has joined the organization’s innovative and dedicated Board of Directors. The Board provides guidance on carrying out Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy’s mission of enriching the lives of Indian River County youth though mentoring relationships that inspire trust, self-esteem, and positive futures.
Youth Guidance is open all day, providing a safe place where students receive three meals and participate in one-on-one and group mentoring programs. The kids complete virtual school from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They engage in group mentoring programs from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., including STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math), life skills, recreational activities, and vocational training. All programs and meals are free for families. The organization serves approximately 250 children every year.
