From ER nurse to community care leader
In the quiet intensity of a hospital emergency room, Colby Bechtold often wondered what happened to patients after they left. As an ER nurse, he saw many seniors return repeatedly, not because their conditions couldn’t be managed, but because they lacked support at home. At the same time, Bechtold was raising his son as a single parent while helping care for his aging grandparents, giving him insight into the challenges families face when seeking dependable in-home care. That experience inspired him to launch Hummingbird Care Services in 2023.

Home prices ease on the Treasure Coast
After years of overheated prices and tight inventory, parts of the Treasure Coast housing market may finally be offering buyers a break. Across Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties, early 2026 data suggests a market that is becoming more balanced. In Martin County, home sales are up while prices have dropped sharply. In St. Lucie and Indian River counties, the market appears steadier, with some signs of renewed momentum. For buyers who had been priced out or waiting on the sidelines, that could mean opportunity.

Rainforest Distribution opens Fort Pierce distribution center
Rainforest Distribution Corp. (“Rainforest”), a full-service food and beverage distributor serving more than 4,000 retailers across 22 states on the East Coast, announced the official opening of its Fort Pierce, Florida distribution center. Located at 3800 Crossroads Parkway within the newly built Interstate Commerce Center, the 62,817-square-foot, Class A facility features full temperature-controlled capabilities – including ambient, refrigerated, and frozen temperature zones – enabling Rainforest to provide comprehensive distribution services across the entire state of Florida and further strengthen its company-owned, direct-store-delivery network throughout the eastern United States.

The Source Commerce Ave. campus becomes reSource Center of Indian River County
Big things are happening on at The Source these days, and while you might not notice the changes at first glance, there is no doubt they are big, and bold, and aimed at helping make life a little better for members of our community. Currently, the 1015 Commerce Avenue campus of The Source in Vero Beach operates 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday serving breakfast, lunch and dinner while on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday breakfast and lunch is served from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the rest of the open hours, members can attend programs, utilize a long list of services offered to them, and mingle with other community members. Starting Friday, May 1, The Source is making a change.
