Manufacturing on rise on Treasure Coast
Manufacturing is on the upswing on the Treasure Coast, as the number of manufacturing workers in St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River
“The manufacturing sector has really taken off in the last 10 years,’’ said economic analyst Kyle Bean.
In the most recent five-year period available, St. Lucie manufacturing jobs increased 8.8 percent, Indian River grew 3.4 percent and Martin was up 2.6 percent, POLICOM showed. That compares to growth of 3.3 percent for Florida and 1.1 percent nationwide.

From TC Palm/Treasure Coast Newspapers: Wawa’s food-and-gasoline chain will build a new 5,934-foot store at 201 S. U.S. 1 at Virginia Avenue in Fort Pierce. Dairy Queen Grill & & Chill is building at U.S. 1 and Savannah Road and will open in August. Camping Word is building an 80,241-square-foot store at 2191 S. Jenkins Road. Joan K. Goodrich joined the Business Development Board of Martin County as executive director on June 3. She is charged with helping to lead the organization’s core mission, developing a shared vision for the future of the organization, and developing appropriate goals and strategies to advance Martin County’s economic development efforts. Christopher Soska became the new chief operating officer of Cleveland Clinic Martin Health on May 30.
