MARTIN COUNTY – On July 11, 2016, the Martin Health System Board of Directors, physicians, associates and volunteers welcomed new president and CEO Robert L. Lord, Jr. of Palm City. Lord joined Martin Health 18 years ago as vice president and chief legal officer, becoming a senior vice president in 2012. He played a pivotal role in the development of Tradition Medical Center. In 2014, he was promoted to senior vice president and chief operating officer.

“Rob’s leadership, vision, commitment to excellence and interpersonal skills position him well to be the new chief executive officer of Martin Health,” said John Loewenberg, chairman of the Martin Health Board of Directors.

A graduate of Stetson University College of Law and Florida State University, Lord is a board certified healthcare executive (certified as a Fellow by the American College of Healthcare Executives), and is board certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in health law. A long-time resident of Martin County, Lord has been active in many local community organizations and causes. Prior to joining Martin Health in 1998, Lord was an attorney in private practice based in Stuart.

“During his tenure, Rob has demonstrated proven executive leadership in numerous roles across the health system,” Loewenberg said. “He has developed a reputation for collaboration with varied stakeholders, relationship building, sound financial management and a commitment to excellence that is the hallmark of what Martin Health strives to achieve.”

Loewenberg expressed gratitude and appreciation to outgoing president and CEO, Mark Robitaille, for his leadership and guidance during his 30-year tenure with Martin Health. “Mark’s leadership was instrumental in positioning Martin Health System as a recognized leader in high quality care while maintaining a strong financial foundation,” Loewenberg said. “His contributions to this organization will continue to resonate long after he is gone.”
