United Way of Indian River County announces new board chair and members
United Way of Indian River County announced the appointment of five distinguished professionals to its Board of Directors and the promotion of Dr. Katie Nall to Board Chair.
Dr. Katie Nall has been a dedicated member of our board since 2017 and will now serve as Board Chair. Born in Kansas and having attended 12 different schools across the Midwest, Dr. Nall has a remarkable story of resilience and dedication. Homeless as a teenager, she was supported by local charity groups, igniting her lifelong appreciation for community support systems like United Way. Dr. Nall holds a BA in Mathematics/Computer Science from San Francisco State University, an MS in Statistics from the University of Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Florida Institute of Technology. Her personal mission, “Education at every turn,” reflects her belief in lifelong learning. Beyond United Way, she is an accomplished speaker, Emcee, and trainer in Qi Gong and Tapping (EFT), and enjoys facilitating Singing Bowl Meditations. Dr. Nall is married to her high school sweetheart, with whom she has three children and five granddaughters.
Dana M. Apfelbaum joins the board with over a decade of experience from Dean Mead, specializing in estate and business planning. Dana, recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and a Legal Elite ‘Up and Comer’ by Florida Trend Magazine, brings extensive legal expertise and dedication to community service. She has also joined the United Way of Indian River County Foundation Board of Directors.
Ryan L. Butler, recently appointed Indian River County Clerk of the Courts and Comptroller, offers a rich background in law and public service. A native of Vero Beach, Ryan has a deep connection to the community and a strong track record of public sector excellence.
Amber Cerda is the General Manager at Marsh Landing Restaurant, where she has overseen daily operations, employee training, and event planning since 2007. Amber’s operational and marketing skills will bring valuable insights to our board.
Fred Jones, a US Marine Corps veteran and retired Lieutenant from the Florida Highway Patrol, has over 30 years of public service experience. His leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County, underscore his commitment to the community.
Mike Mosel, Director of Project & Brand Management at Indrio Brands and Co-Owner of Seahorse Lane Boutique, brings over a decade of business development and strategic planning expertise. His focus on relationship building and tactical execution will greatly benefit United Way
“We are thrilled to welcome Dana, Ryan, Amber, Fred, and Mike to our Board of Directors and are excited for Dr. Katie Nall to step into the role of Board Chair,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “Their diverse backgrounds and commitment to community service align perfectly with our mission to improve lives and create lasting change in Indian River County.
