United Way Martin County invests $2.39 Million

United Way of Martin County announced $1,195,002 in community impact grants to 24 nonprofit agencies during its annual Big Reveal event at The Kane Center. The grants will support 35 programs focused on education, health and financial stability in Martin County. More than 120 people attended the event, which was sponsored by Capstone IT and STS Aviation Group.
United Way’s Community Impact Fund supports programs that address local needs including child literacy, mental health, rent relief and senior services. The annual Big Reveal marks the conclusion of a community-led grant review process designed to direct donor dollars where they can have the greatest impact.
Funding recommendations are made through Citizens Review Panels composed of United Way donors and community volunteers. Panel members conduct site visits, review grant applications and evaluate programs before making recommendations to the Fund Distribution Committee, which then presents funding recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval.
Nearly 40 donors and volunteers participated in the 2026-27 Citizens Review Process, helping ensure grant funding decisions aligned with United Way’s mission, funding priorities and community needs.
“United Way of Martin County is unique because of our thorough review process and commitment to collaboration, transparency and creating lasting change,” said Carol G. Houwaart-Diez, president and CEO of United Way of Martin County. “We bring together diverse groups to tackle the most pressing issues, ensuring that every contribution goes directly toward making a meaningful impact in the lives of residents.”
Community impact grants are one component of United Way’s broader investment in Martin County. When combined with donor designations, the United Way Foundation and internal programs — including Ride United, Volunteer United, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, United Way Toys for Tots Holiday Project, and emergency or disaster relief — the organization’s total community investment reached $2,391,238.
United Way of Martin County said it will continue building partnerships and leveraging resources to address evolving community needs through its annual campaign and support from donors, volunteers, sponsors, partners and community members.
