iTHINK Foundation surprises family with furnished Habitat home

A Vero Beach family received a fully furnished home on June 3 through a collaboration among iTHINK Community Foundation, Indian River Habitat for Humanity, Jetsons and the Realtors Association of Indian River County, turning a home dedication into a move-in-ready milestone.

The home was made possible through Indian River Habitat for Humanity, with Jetsons serving as house sponsor and the Realtors Association of Indian River County serving as build sponsor. Through its “Building Up” initiative, iTHINK Community Foundation furnished and personalized the newly constructed house to help the family begin homeownership with essential household items already in place.

Although the family expected to receive a Habitat for Humanity home, they did not know the interior had been fully furnished and decorated before the dedication at their new home in Vero Beach.

The finished home included furnished living spaces, a stocked kitchen with cookware, dishes and household essentials, and children’s bedrooms customized to reflect each child’s interests. The goal was to reduce the immediate costs of moving in and help the family feel at home from the first day.

“Homeownership is about more than having a roof overhead. It is about creating a place where families can build memories, find stability and thrive,” said Stephen Johnson, assistant vice president of administration and marketing at iTHINK Financial. “Through our ‘Building Up’ initiative, we wanted to ensure this family could begin its next chapter with a home that was ready from day one.”

iTHINK Community Foundation’s “Building Up” initiative supports local families as they begin homeownership by providing furnishings, household necessities and other items that help turn a house into a home. Before the dedication, iTHINK Financial employees volunteered to furnish, decorate and personalize each room.

The initiative reflects iTHINK Community Foundation’s broader focus on supporting children and families in the communities it serves. By partnering with organizations such as Indian River Habitat for Humanity, the foundation aims to expand access to stable housing and strengthen family outcomes.
