Indian River businesses partner with Master’s Academy to equip students for the workforce
Nine outstanding students from Master’s Academy will be presented with Apprenticeship Diplomas this spring after successfully completing intensive, real-world training through the school’s growing Vocational Technology (Vo-Tech) program. These unique apprenticeships, made possible by dedicated partnerships with local businesses such as Dyer Chevrolet and Thompson Remodeling, offer students invaluable hands-on experience and career preparation.
At Dyer Chevrolet, senior Matthew Peacock has spent the last three years immersed in every facet of automotive care and customer service. Trained and mentored by top leaders and technical experts Jonathan Hardie and Ben Williams, Matthew has learned far more than how to change oil or service a battery. He’s experienced the heart of a workplace culture where encouragement and teamwork are paramount. “Being surrounded by leaders who model excellence and teamwork has meant the world to me,” Matthew shared. “It’s about building one another up and getting a jump start on life.”
At Thompson Remodeling, the apprenticeship experience has become a family legacy. Tanner and Colton Thompson, sons of a long-time local contractor Todd Thompson, have spent their high school years learning the ins and outs of the construction trade—from roofing and drywall to project management and customer communication. Their mentor, Supervisor Jeremiah Meschkat, not only teaches them the technical skills of the job but also instills in them the values of consistency, reliability, and strong work ethic. “We can’t wait to get our schoolwork done so we can head to the job site,” the brothers said with a grin. “This program has been a dream come true.”
These apprenticeships do more than build job skills. They foster character development, professionalism, and personal confidence—traits essential for lifelong success. Through strong mentorship, students are being prepared not just for graduation, but for real careers in their chosen fields.
Dr. Rick Brewer, Head of School at Master’s Academy, applauds the program’s impact. “We are so proud of our students and deeply grateful to the local businesses that are helping to shape their futures,” said Brewer. “This is a powerful example of what happens when a community invests in the next generation.”
Master’s Academy is currently seeking to expand its apprenticeship partnerships. If you are a business owner with a heart for mentoring and a desire to invest in young talent, the school invites you to connect and explore how you can make a lasting impact.
