HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital opens new hybrid operating room

HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, a 435-bed full-service acute care facility, and part of HCA Florida Healthcare, the largest healthcare system in the state, announced the opening of its new hybrid operating room (OR) as part of its $100 million tower expansion.

After recently opening three additional operating rooms, Lawnwood Hospital now provides surgeons with the latest technology in image-guided procedures. In the new hybrid OR, clinical teams have advanced 2D and 3D surgical imaging guidance at their fingertips to seamlessly transition between minimally invasive and open surgery if needed.

“Our priority is the needs of our growing community,” said HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital Chief Executive Officer Eric Goldman. “The addition of a hybrid OR is another step forward in ensuring our community receives high-quality care close to home.”

Larger than a typical operating room at 845 square feet and located on first floor, the hybrid OR enhances medical team capabilities in performing complex neurological, cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.

“We continue to focus on clinical enhancements designed to create the best possible outcomes and patient experience,” said HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital Chief Medical Officer Michael Bakerman. “Our hybrid OR allows surgeons to schedule a single procedure instead of multiple surgeries. It’s another way our physicians continue to provide exceptional care.”

The $6.6 million hybrid OR is the final phase of the multi-phase, two story tower expansion. It features a dedicated entrance and waiting area for families and loved ones. The waiting area also provides discrete updates on the patient as they progress through the clinical process.

The first hybrid OR procedure is scheduled for early December.
