Hamilton Farms hosts watermelon festival

Hamilton Farms will host its inaugural Watermelon Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., June 27, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sun., June 28, at 1500 North Header Canal Road in Fort Pierce. The two-day event will invite families and outdoor enthusiasts to celebrate summer with fresh watermelons, outdoor activities and local vendors at the seasonal U-pick farm.
Hamilton Farms offers seasonal U-pick varieties of citrus, flowers, strawberries and vegetables. The Hamilton family has farmed since the 1930s. Owners Matt and Jenna Hamilton are fifth-generation farmers, and their three children are sixth-generation farmers.
“We look forward to welcoming families from near and far to the farm for a weekend full of summer fun and fresh watermelons,” said Jenna Hamilton, co-owner of Hamilton Farms.
Festival vendors will include Testa Rossa Authentic Wood Fired Pizza, Beachside Treats, Lucky Chu Hibachi, Victoria’s Coffee and Drink Sippers. Activities will include My Fiesta Fairy’s petting zoo and pony rides, face painting and free hayrides around the farm.
Hamilton Farms is still accepting vendor inquiries at hamilftonfarmsupick@gmail.com.
Admission is $5 per car at the entrance to the farm. Visitors may bring wagons to transport watermelons.
Visitors are encouraged to dress for heat and outdoor conditions. Much of the farm is grass, sand or dirt. Frequently asked questions about visiting the farm are available at hamiltonfarmsupick.com/faqs.
The u-pick will reopen for its regular season in the fall. The date will be announced.
