Draft Resilience Vulnerability Assessment Public Meeting

The City of Fort Pierce invites residents to attend an upcoming public meeting to explore the results of the recently completed Draft Resilience Vulnerability Assessment. This regional initiative—developed in coordination with St. Lucie County, the City of Port St. Lucie, the City of Fort Pierce, and the Town of St. Lucie Village—evaluates the area’s exposure to environmental threats such as flooding caused by heavy rainfall and high tides driven by sea level rise.

Funded through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Resilient Florida Program and the Florida Department of Commerce’s Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT), the assessment provides a detailed look at potential vulnerabilities to critical infrastructure and helps lay the groundwork for a comprehensive Resilience Plan. Community members are invited to review the data and provide valuable feedback that will help guide resilience strategies across the county.

The final in-person meeting will be held on Thurs., May 29 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Paula A. Lewis Branch Library, 2950 SW Rosser Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34953

This project is made possible through grant funding provided by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection, and federal CDBG-MIT funding through the Florida Department of Commerce, contributing a combined total of $600,000—representing 52 percent of the total project cost.
