City of Fort Pierce launches Home Purchase Assistance Program

The City of Fort Pierce is excited to announce the launch of its Home Purchase Assistance Program, which aims to provide financial support to income-eligible individuals and families seeking to achieve the dream of homeownership. The program, administered by the Grants Administration Division, will begin accepting applications on Thurs., March 6, 2025, at 8a.m. and continue through Fri., April 4, 2025, or until funds are fully allocated.

This initiative is supported by $150,000 in State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) funds for Fiscal Year 2024-2025, allocated to assist with down payment and closing costs for homes located within the city limits of Fort Pierce. The program offers a zero-interest, deferred second mortgage to qualifying applicants.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for assistance, applicants must:

  • Complete a pre-purchase home buyer education program.
  • Attend a mandatory orientation conducted by the Grants Administration Division.
  • Secure a first mortgage from a lending institution.

Mandatory Orientation Sessions

All applicants are required to attend a virtual or in-person mandatory orientation prior to submitting their application. The City will host two sessions:

In-Person Orientation: Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at River Walk Center, 600 N. Indian River Dr., Fort Pierce, FL 34950.

Virtual Orientation: Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Attendance at one of these sessions is mandatory, and proof of participation must be provided with the application.

Application Process

Applications will be processed on a first submitted, first qualified, first eligible basis, subject to funding availability.
