MARTIN, ST. LUCIE, AND PALM BEACH COUNTIES – In response to the increased number of algae blooms caused by Lake Okeechobee discharges, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity Emergency Management Department has activated the Florida Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center (FLVBEOC).

Local businesses are encouraged to complete a business damage assessment survey to report affects of algae issues. Results will be shared with various federal, state and local agencies to expedite implementation of appropriate disaster relief programs for affected businesses.
