FORT PIERCE — Antique Volkswagens, a live band, a bounce house, food trucks, and a Volkswagen Jetta giveaway are just a few of the highlights of the Sunrise Volkswagen grand opening scheduled for Saturday, May 18.
The event will be held at the new Sunrise Volkswagen dealership at 5359 S. U.S. 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunrise Volkswagen has been open since early this year, with Saturday’s event scheduled as a public celebration of the new dealership’s presence in the community.
The celebration will feature an exhibit of 75 antique Volkswagens, a live band, a bounce house, kids’ center, parts vendors, food trucks, trophies, antique Volkswagen parts vendors, swap meet, and a hula hoop contest.
Also on display is a vintage 1971 Volkswagen van, transformed into a fish aquarium, that has been featured in “Fish Tank Kings.’’ The unusual aquarium is the centerpiece of the new dealership.
A new Jetta Volkswagen will be given away during a drawing at 5 p.m. on the day of the grand opening. Purchases are not necessary and those entering for the drawing may do so at the dealership. Some restrictions apply.
