STUART – Southeast Florida Honor Flight thinks the world of veterans and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show the love. The organization will host its first “Our Hearts Beat for Our Veterans” Luncheon, Fashion Show and Silent Auction on February 9, 2019 at the Atlantis Country Club at 11:30 a.m. The event will raise funds to fuel the mission of Honor Flight — to transport local WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veterans to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at the memorials built to honor their service and sacrifices.

The event is sure to be a super-charged affair beginning with a champagne silent auction featuring a wide array of fabulous items. During the luncheon, models will sashay to high-energy music wearing fashions from a model-curated collection from several local boutiques for a variety of ages. Stylish and unique table centerpieces will also be available for raffle.

Tickets for the luncheon are $45 and are available by calling Denise at (561) 329-3877 or by mailing a check to: Janet Hoose/Honor Flight, 7586 Worral Road, Lake Worth, 33463. Please purchase your tickets by January 31.

Southeast Florida Honor Flight, along with the 133 other hubs in the nationwide Honor Flight Network, is dedicated to flying America’s veterans to their respective memorials in Washington, DC, free of charge to the veteran. Southeast Florida Honor Flight is a 100% volunteer organization based in Stuart, FL and serves Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee and Palm Beach Counties.

An Honor Flight – a day that many veterans say is one of the best days of their lives – begins and ends at Palm Beach International Airport. Each Honor Flight takes a chartered American Airlines Airbus 321 flying about 82 veterans, their guardians and flight team into DCA where the group boards four police-escorted motor coaches. The day’s agenda includes visits to the Air Force Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery for the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The veterans are treated to a day honoring their service with several surprises along the way, including a red, white and blue, flag-waving welcome home by the public, a true welcome home that most never received years ago. The organization is always looking for local WWII, Korean and Vietnam War veterans who have not yet taken their Honor Flight to fill out an application at www.honorflightsefl.org, under the Veteran tab.

The next scheduled 2019 Honor Flights for Southeast Florida Honor Flight are April 13 and May 11.
