The first recipient of the Ed Drondoski Photography Scholarship at Indian River State College has been announced.

The recipient is MacKenzie Carden, a digital media major. Drondoski was a founding staff member of Indian River Magazine and was its chief photographer. Generous with helping other photographers learn the trade, Drondoski died of an apparent heart attack last November.

The scholarship was initiated by Indian River Magazine and funded by family and friends as a way to remember him. The scholarship has been endowed and will provide each annual recipient with an annual scholarship award.

“The outpouring of love and support from our friends and family in establishing the Ed Drondoski Photography Scholarship has been amazing,’’ said Drondoski’s wife, Barbara. “It is a tribute to Ed for which I and my children will be forever grateful. We congratulate MacKenzie and look forward to the future growth of the scholarship so that it may continue to support the education of the next generation.”
