VERO BEACH — This year’s Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy’s 2019 King of the Hill Tennis Tournament will again be played at the beautifully renovated tennis courts at The Moorings Yacht and Country Club, on Jan. 15 until Feb. 26 at 6:00 p.m. Participant will partake in seven exciting weeks of tennis with local pros vying to be named King of the Hill.

In its 24th year, King of the Hill gives tennis fans the opportunity to enjoy high level doubles competition while providing local tennis professionals the opportunity to participate in the festivities and appreciate the spirit of competition.

The Executive Director, Felix L. Cruz stated, “Last year, your generous participation in the King of The Hill Tennis Tournament, helped us to serve over 300 underprivileged children from Indian River County. Without your support, many of these children from single parent homes, would not have access to the tremendous amount of free resources that our agency provides.”

Cruz detailed the programs and activities that are made possible by sponsorship, “Your help made it easy for students to participate in: Tennis lessons from professionals, group and one-on-one mentoring, Youth Sailing Foundation certified instruction, Pickleball, Rugby, Lacrosse, Science, Technology and Math powered programs, visual and performing arts, nutrition and culinary arts, a visit to the Kennedy Space Center, child abuse prevention education, and Leadership and civic engagement opportunities. These are just some of the programs and activities made possible through the dollars generated by your sponsorship of the King of the Hill Tournament. However, this year our incredible success has lead us to increase the number of programs and services for the coming year. That, along with the need to expand our facilities and renovate our newly purchased building, makes your continued support even more critical. On behalf of our Board of Director’s our children and their families, I wish to thank you and look forward to continue collaboration toward the healthy development of communities.”

The tournament is formatted into three divisions; an Open Division, a 40’s division and a 50’s division. While all of the players deserve recognition, we did crown champions in each division at last year’s event:

Open Division Winner: Michael Alford – Quail Valley
50’s Division Winner: Joe Biedenharn – John’s Island
40’s Division Winner: Marco Osorio – Grand Harbor

King of the Hill is a fundraiser for Youth Guidance Mentoring Academy, and has given to the children $400,000.00 since it began. Funds raised provide mentoring programs and activities for underprivileged children from low-income, single parent families.

Sponsorship packages outline the various levels of sponsorships and the benefits of each. Also included is a commitment form for your review and signature. We hope you can join us in our efforts to raise much needed funds, while enjoying great tennis and promoting your business, as well.
