Martin Downs Golf Club Managing Partner Dave Yaworski, left, and Managing Partner/Owner Brian Wenrick review plans for the new Banyan Creek Golf course. Renovation of the former Crane Creek course is underway and the new course is slated for a fall 2016 opening.

PALM CITY – Banyan Creek, the Treasure Coast’s newest golf course designed to USGA standards is now taking shape on the site of the historic Crane Creek course at the Martin Downs Golf Club. The estimated $8 million dollar rebirth and renovation of the Crane Creek course into Banyan Creek is underway and set to be completed in the fall of 2016.

“We are excited to add a new private course to Martin Downs Golf Club that has been designed for golfers who wanted a very unique and beautiful course on the Treasure Coast,” said Martin Downs Golf Club owner Brian Wenrick. “The new Banyan Creek course will have additional yardage added to its layout with newly designed waste areas and some elevated tees without losing the charm, challenge and ambiance that was a hallmark of the historic Crane Creek course,” added Wenrick.

In the past, the Crane Creek course had been a site for the PGA Tour Qualifying School and the U.S. Open Qualifying utilizing its unique “tee to green” design. Keeping the same format, but now reshaped by golf course architect Harry Bowers, the course will feature multiple sets of tees for all skills levels and views of mature tree-lined fairways and majestic creeks surrounding the new course.

“Many may remember, this is not your typical Florida golf course that flows through endless rows of homes and condos. The new enhancements will continue to give the ‘Carolina feel,’ which allows you to truly get away and enjoy a serene experience in Florida that is rarely found here,” said Wenrick.

Banyan Creek will be a private golf course that is dedicated to its membership. As membership builds, a new clubhouse will be built on the site of the existing Maxwell House location to meet the needs and desires of the Banyan Creek members.

Martin Downs Golf will offer two course memberships. Information on pricing options for single, family, or corporate memberships in Banyan Creek and Osprey Creek are available by contacting Matthew Boyd, Director of Golf and Membership at Martin Downs Golf Club.
