FORT PIERCE — The first of two new downtown dining venues has quietly begun serving its first meals as it prepares for its grand opening on Friday, March 23.

Chef Chris Bireley said Rooster in the Garden, in The Galleria at 100 S. Second Street, has begun serving a limited lunch and dinner menu and will continue to do so next week through the grand opening on Friday. Bireley is training staff and working to ensure a smooth operation when the 100-seat restaurant has its official opening in a week. Thus, he said, the restaurant will be able to serve only a limited number of customers during this period.

“We’re here to make an impression and we want to make sure we succeed with every meal that we serve,’’ Birely said.

Birely plans to open a second 100-seat dining room at the Galleria, The Braford, in three weeks. Both dining rooms are in partnership with Adams Ranch Inc. of Fort Pierce and plan to serve Adams Ranch beef.

Rooster in the Garden opens for lunch at 11:30 daily and serves dinner through 9 p.m. It is currently closed on Sundays. Reservations are not required but suggested for parties of eight or more.

“Rooster In The Garden will be a farm to table menu that not only uses local product but shows how high a quality what we get from our backyard is,” Bireley said.
Situated in the lobby of The Galleria, Rooster in the Garden has a courtyard feel, with a light and airy space as well as an outdoor patio. The Braford, an upscale steakhouse, will have a separate dining room on the south side of The Galleria.
